Job Description
As a Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), you will provide critical care to patients with severe, life-threatening conditions. You will work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, delivering specialized nursing care to stabilize and treat patients who require continuous monitoring and intensive interventions. Your role involves close collaboration with healthcare teams to deliver the best possible care for patients facing complex medical challenges.
As a travel nurse, you will take short-term assignments at various healthcare facilities across the country. This role offers an exciting opportunity to expand your ICU expertise, explore different hospital systems, and experience new environments while helping facilities in need of immediate support.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide Critical Care: Deliver advanced nursing care to critically ill patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing life-support equipment.
Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work closely with doctors, respiratory therapists, and other ICU staff to create and implement individualized care plans.
Monitor Patient Status: Continuously assess and document patient conditions, recognizing early signs of complications and responding appropriately.
Administer Medications and Treatments: Safely administer high-risk medications and perform advanced procedures such as central line management, ventilator care, and hemodynamic monitoring.
Family Communication: Provide compassionate support and communication to the families of critically ill patients, keeping them informed of treatment plans and patient progress.
Perform Emergency Interventions: Respond quickly to emergencies, performing lifesaving interventions such as resuscitation, defibrillation, or intubation when necessary.
Maintain Accurate Records: Ensure all patient care activities, treatments, and observations are documented accurately in compliance with hospital protocols.
Adapt to Various Settings: Quickly adjust to different ICU environments and hospital systems during travel assignments, delivering consistent high-quality care.
Job Requirements
Education:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred but not required.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in an ICU setting, with proficiency in handling critically ill patients.
Certifications:
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required.
CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification preferred.
Licensure:
Active, unrestricted RN license in the state of assignment or a compact/multi-state license.
Skills:
Strong clinical skills in critical care nursing, including advanced knowledge of ICU procedures and equipment.
Ability to work under pressure and in high-stress environments, remaining calm and effective during emergencies.
Excellent communication skills, particularly in conveying complex medical information to families and collaborating with healthcare teams.
Proficiency in managing ventilators, monitoring devices, and administering critical medications.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Flexibility and adaptability to work in various ICU settings.
Travel Requirements:
Willingness to travel to various locations for 8- to 13-week assignments.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
